ABSTRACT
Networking technology is a very important things to user for transferring data information. Due to the use of excessive bandwidth, network administrator need to monitor the bandwidth regularly. The main purpose of this project is to design a simulation that can monitor network and optimize the usage of network as well as limiting the bandwidth and time. This proposed project employs random password as a technique that to be applied into captive portal. A user that intends to access a network would be redirected to captive portal for authentication purpose. Network activity is manageable when user accessing the network in real time. In the mean times, network performance are working well as system are able to limit bandwidth and optimize number of users that ought to access network at once.
INTRODUCTION
Network is a collection of computers and other devices that can send and receive data from one another, more or less in real time. Development of network may lead data access to become exceed. In order to cope this problems, network administrator should monitor the network using pfSense. In current research, pfSense is an essential software that are deploy intended to make the monitoring more easier . pfSense is open source software distribution based on FreeBSD. pfSense is commonly used as a router, firewall, DHCP server, wireless access point and DNS server. In this project, pfSense act as DHCP server that automatically assign an IP address to a computer from a defined range of numbers configured for a given network. Captive portal is a web page that control any Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) browser access to the network. A user that want to access network would be redirected to webpage for authentication. This will make network administration become more easier in handling the network traffic.
OBJECTIVE
- To study the existing LAN infrastructure
- To design the simulation that can monitor network
- To implement the simulation that optimized network usage as well as limiting bandwidth and time
METHODOLOGY
FRAMEWORK
- 1) pfSense
- Act as Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server that hand out
- addresses to clients and automatically configure them for network access.
- 2) Ubuntu (Server)
- Act as database server that responsible to store database
- 3) Ubuntu (Client)
- Act as user that access network

Figure 3 shows fluctuate graph of WAN and LAN since
network administrator has limit the bandwidth for 1 GB per
user

CONCLUSION
This project aims to help an organization or company's network administrator easily to monitor and control network performance. With regards to the project, the organization may cut off their budget if they are employing this system. In other hands, network usage can be optimized by limiting bandwidths and times. This project confidently may help network administrator in managing and controlling network usage properly
